History:

Intelmac was formed in April 2000 to manufacture optical fiber components and to provide a photonics packaging and optical signal processing design service to the South African Industry for the manufacture of fiber optic sensors and sub-systems. The company has subsequently expanded its operations to deliver components and services to the telecommunication and test equipment fields.

Facilities:

The Intelmac head office is on the campus of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research In Pretoria. The facility is also collocated with the Innovationhub, a Blue IQ initiative of the Gauteng Provincial Government to provide continued improvement and creativity in SA's information technology industry. Leading international companies, such as Cisco, Oracle, Hewlett Packard, Novell and Accenture, have already committed themselves to active participation in the Hub.

Intelmac has clean room facilities, laboratories, equipment and skilled personnel for the development, assembly and production of optical fiber components , photonics packaging, electronic boards and subsystems. The manufacturing procedures and process are according to international standards and the Quality Management System is established to comply with ISO 9000:2000.

Intelmac, together with its strategic partners, have the infrastructure and capability to design manufacture, processing and packaging of hybrid micro electronic circuitry, active and passive optical components and assemblies.
